Started doing Illustration Friday challenges again. It is nice to have IF as a resource for when I need to generate ideas for developing my portfolio.
With "Beard" being the topic for this week, I thought I would show a common evolution of the male solution for going bald. I hope it doesn't come to that for me because for one, my head is shaped too funny to be totally bald, and two, I am unable to grow a full beard.

Suarez Eats Italian
Though I'm not much for sports, who didn't catch wind of Luis Suarez biting Giorgio Chiellim during a World Cup soccer match? Memes are up all over the Internet, so I thought I might as well put something up too.

Summer Contentment
I'm killing two challenges with one stone with this illustration.
The first is for Illustration Friday, the topic is "Summer".
The second is inspired by illustrator Holly DeWolf. She post a word of the week for her to illustrate. I thought I would take on her challenge and illustrate "contentment".
For me, I'm as content as a cow when I can relax with a glass of limeade in the summertime!

"Joe in Danger"
The School of Visual Storytelling has a 3rd Thursday illustration contest every month. This is my third time participating. Top illustrations get prizes from the SVS store and a critique. I'm always open to constructive criticism so if my piece gets picked then that would be great. These contests seem to be oriented towards children's book and art, so I'm wondering how I might work that in to what I typically do, which is editorial illustration.

Making of a Mutt
Here's the story behind this illustration (if it isn't obvious enough).
We just adopted a dog about a week ago. On his information it indicated that he was a German shepherd/chihuahua mix. My first thought was, without getting too graphic, "How did that work?" So I'm a little skeptical about that information, but nevertheless, we still have a wonderful dog that will give us many years of joy.

Tommy Emmanuel
Tommy Emmanuel started playing guitar at age 4 and started working as a professional at age 6. Impressive, to say the least!

Drone This Way
I recently read a few articles about the Obama administration justifying the use of drones on American citizens. Not sure where I stand on the issue of drones, but I do believe in due process.
