Finished Owl Illustration

Well, a few final touches ended up being over an hour's worth of work, but now my owl is finished. I wasn't quite sure if this one was going to work, but the results of this picture finally came out to my satisfaction. I had the most difficult time figuring out how I was going to deal with the background because I wasn't sure if I wanted to use watercolor or render it with pen and ink. Since I wanted the quality of the picture to be more of that of a drawing, I went with pen and ink.

This piece is done with watercolor, brush/pen and India ink.

The mystique of Owls is so well done by you--in my lifetime, I have seen a few but not many---your page is so striking!

Unbelievable! The owl, the sky, the moon! Amazing and you should be more than satisfied! How long did this take to complete? I am not sure I have the patience that you do!

Owls are a fun creature to depict. They are a lot of fun to teach the kids, as well.

Lisa, because I had been working on the drawing on and off, I am not sure how long it took to complete. Perhaps 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Also, what you see as patience is just the joy I have with drawing. I could do it for hours and easily lose track of time.

I appreciate all the nice comments!

Very lovely -- you handled the feathers nicely. I love it when there's just that hint of something and it's not overwrought... Your patience really paid off, I say!

It's terrific. You don't see a lot of pen and ink illustration out there (at least I don't) so I think your pieces are nicely different. This looks like it could go in a childrens book.
