Daily Sketch 64

The intent of this drawing is not to be surreal or strange. Like yesterday's sketch, it just simply started out as a doodle in the negative space, and then I squeezed a figure into what positive space was left. Often I like to improvise with my art to see what happens in the end. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't know if this works or not. However, the intent of my sketchbooks is usually not to make a masterpiece, it is to practice my ideas and techniques. A sort of experimental playground where I don't have to be concerned with pleasing someone else. A place where if I mess up, it is okay.

Drawn with a Sharpie pen.

Like the effect. I love my sketchbook for the same reason! Lots of playing with different kinds of pencils and experimenting with subjects and styles, keeping the good with the bad, dating each piece, moving on, looking back.. Happy New Year!
