Daily Sketch 66

I started this drawing similar to my doodle drawings, with the writing in the negative space, forming a "hole" for the positive space to fit. This drawing is not too elaborate, but it mostly focuses on what is said in the writing.
The design idea is based on an assignment that I have my older students do. Normally I have them lightly outline a figure of themselves (self portrait), and then do free writing in the negative space. The writing can be anything that comes to mind. After writing they can draw in the positive space with line shading or any other technique that they might want to use. Those students that open their minds to the assignment really enjoy the activity. I try to stretch their creativity.

Great idea. Love the hatching and how you treated the glasses and eyes. Oh my, counting calories! I could never do it...

What a very nice portrait! I very much like how you did the crosshatching. I love seeing the work of others - I learn so much that way. nancy
