Illustration Friday: "Racing"

I spent all day working on this illustration. Usually I'll work on an IF piece throughout the week, but I did this one, from preliminary drawings, to transferring images, to inking and painting, all in one day. Whew! Good thing the son, who was off from school, is able to easily entertain himself. I'll have to make it up to him tomorrow with some fun family activities.

In light of this piece, I will be glad when this election season is over. It seems the mud-slinging is worse than ever. Though candidates say they have all the answers to help this or that, the real situation is that politics as we know it is in a grid lock, and neither party is going to offer the right solutions that actually help our economy, social issues, etc. There are just too many special interests to please (and to anger) from all different directions. I am beginning to think if society is going to be fixed, then society needs to decide to work together and make things better, not the politicians. Then again, what do I know? I am just an artist.

This illustration was created with pen & ink and watercolor.

I really like how you took this week theme and turn into a concept that talk about the issue we face today. I really like draftsmanship and color. Great work!
