Robert Johnson

Robert Johnson was born May 8, 1911. He was one of the great bluesmen that are foundational to what we think of as blues music. The blues laid the groundwork for American popular music. For example, the I - IV - V chord progression, which is at the heart of the blues, has been used in hundreds, if not thousands of popular tunes.

The legend of Johnson's death is almost as famous as his music where it is said that he sold his soul to the devil in order to be able to play the way that he did.
