Illustration Friday: Boundaries

I interpreted "boundaries" to mean "personal space".  I had a recent experience of having a chat with an acquaintance, however it seemed that we both had a different sense of what defined personal space.  In fact, I'm almost positive that he had no concept of it.  No matter how much I tried to shift my position slightly away from him during our conversation, he countered my effort by coming even closer.  I'm sure there has to be a Seinfeld episode about this situation!  What does one do?
Illustration created with watercolors, pen, brush and India ink.

Maybe you could snuffle, cough, talk in a raspy voice - pretend to be coming down with a cold? Yup, this is classic 'boundaries' stuff, and I feel your pain!

Wonderful illustration of a not so wonderful situation. The problem is of course you want to stay polite and the only way to stop this kind of behavior is to be impolite. Sigh.

Ah, yes, the dreaded Close Talker. As someone who requires a rather large 'bubble' of personal space in order to be comfortable, the Close Talker is my greatest nemesis.

The Seinfield episode was "The Close Talker" I think! Great sketch!

someone i used to work with always stepped into my "space". she was a bit odd, and truly had no sense of boundaries. but, i spend a lot of time in coffee shops. i experience loud conversations as invasions of my boundaries. when i sit next to a man (it is usually a man) and he sprawls out and spreads his legs very wide, that, too, is boundary invasion.
